Deputy Director 

Founded in 1971, The Bronx Museum of the Arts is one of the most exciting contemporary art centers in New York City with its roster of marquee blockbuster exhibitions and public programs that reflect the diversity of dynamic communities.

The Museum, with its free admission policy, serves 100,000 visitors annually, and in 2018 will embark on a capital expansion plan to create a new entrance, lobby, and community gallery to serve growing and expanded audiences.  This is an extraordinary moment to join our talented staff who is raising the bar and helping the Museum realize its forward-looking directions that respond to new trends and directions as they develop.

The Deputy Director will partner with the Executive Director in the management and supervision of the Museum’s full time and part time staff (of 30) and seven primary departments:  Finance, Operations, Development, Marketing, Curatorial, Education, and Public Programs.

Exhibition Archives Intern 

The Bronx Museum of the Arts has partnered with Studio in a School's ARTS Intern program to host an Exhibition Archives Intern for Summer 2017.


In this internship, the student will learn about the inner workings of the archives kept by a smaller museum as well as how to take the lead on projects meant to serve museum staff, future interns, and scholars at large who wish to utilize our extensive collection. The intern will gain valuable research and digital media skills, as well as experience with LibraryThing, online cataloguing software used by many non-profits. Additionally, the intern will complete a comprehensive research project on the 37 year history of the museum's Artist In The Marketplace (AIM) program.


Skills and Qualifications:
• Excellent organizational skills and an eye for details
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Command of the Microsoft Office suite
• Ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment; handle multiple tasks at once; adhere to deadlines
• Experience with or interest in event production is preferred
• Bilingual applicants are preferred
• An interest in contemporary art and The Bronx
• Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required

Executive Coordinator & Board Liaison 

The Bronx Museum of the Arts (BxMA) is a contemporary art museum, founded in 1971 to serve the culturally diverse populations of the Bronx and the greater New York metropolitan area.  The Museum has a long-standing commitment to increasing and stimulating audience participation in the visual arts through its Permanent collection, special exhibition, and education programs.

The Executive Coordinator & Board Liaison will provide support to the Executive Director and be the primary staff interface with the (30+) Board of Directors.  Work activities will include direct interaction with the Board of Trustees, organizing Board of Trustee meetings, serve as the point person and provide administrative support to Executive Director’s office, attend departmental meetings, and participate in public programs.
