ADMISSION to the Museum and all of our exhibitions and programs IS ALWAYS FREE FOR EVERYONE!

Monday - Tuesday

Normal operating hours are Wednesday–Sunday, 11AM–6PM The Museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Holidays
The Bronx Museum will be closed to the public on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Accessibility

The Bronx Museum is dedicated to providing all visitors access to its exhibitions.  All public areas of the Museum, including galleries and restrooms, are wheelchair accessible. Complimentary wheelchairs are available in the lobby area on a first-come, first-served basis.

Safety

At this time, proof of vaccination is no longer required to visit the Museum. Face masks are suggested for visitors aged two years and older, as we continue to prioritize the safety of our guests.

Visitor Policies

Bag check
All bags are subject to security inspection before entering the Museum.

Luggage is not permitted and cannot be stored at this time.

Backpacks must be carried.

Umbrellas are not permitted in the galleries. Please check your umbrella at the front desk.

Photography
Photography is permitted unless otherwise noted. Videotaping, use of flash, selfie sticks, and tripods are prohibited.

Cell Phone Use
Cell phones should be set to vibrate or silent

Sketching
Sketching is permitted in the galleries (pencil only, no ink or paint) with sketchbooks no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches (21.5 x 28 centimeters). Easels, stools, and sitting on the floor is not permitted. If galleries are crowded, guards may ask visitors to stop sketching or writing.

Food & drink
Outside food and drinks are not permitted.

Touching
Please do not touch artworks, frames, platforms or pedestals, labels, or display cases.

The Bronx Museum prohibits the following:

  • Solicitation for charitable donations
  • Running or disruptive behavior
  • Explosives, firearms, knives, weapons, and noxious substances

Location

Located at 1040 Grand Concourse, The Bronx Museum is easily accessible by walking, biking, car, and public transportation.

D train to 167 St. Walk south two blocks.  

4 train to the 161 Street/Yankee Stadium Station. Walk east three blocks to the Grand Concourse, then, walk north four blocks along Grand Concourse to 165th St.

Getting here by Metro North Railroad
Hudson Line to Yankees – E. 153rd Street, walk to 161st Street and River Avenue. Walk east three blocks to the Grand Concourse, then, walk north four blocks along Grand Concourse to 165th St.

Getting Here By Car
Visit maps.google.com for individualized driving instructions.

From Manhattan: Take the FDR Drive to Willis Avenue Bridge, stay to your left, merge onto the Major Deegan North. Exit at 138th St. and Grand Concourse.  Proceed to 165th St. and Grand Concourse.

Or, take Riverside Drive to 155th St., make right onto 155th St. Go straight until you reach the Macombs Dam Bridge. Cross bridge, proceed to 165th St. Turn right onto 165th St. and proceed to Grand Concourse.

From Brooklyn: Take any Manhattan-bound bridge to FDR Drive north. Proceed north to Willis Ave Bridge, stay to your left, merge onto the Major Deegan North. Exit at 138th St. and Grand Concourse. Proceed to 165th St. and Grand Concourse.

Or, Take the Triboro Bridge to the Major Deegan.  Exit 138th St. and Grand Concourse. Proceed to 165th St.

From the Cross Bronx Expressway: Take #87/New York State Thruway South (Major Deegan). Exit at 161st St./ Yankee Stadium. Make a right off the exit ramp. Make a left at light and proceed to 165th St. Turn right onto 165th St. and proceed to Grand Concourse.

Parking
Paid parking (MPG Parking) is located across the street at 1020 Grand Concourse.
